You told us about: A Weekend in Prestonsburg
“If you enjoy golfing and being entertained, Prestonsburg is the place to go! We plan at least 2 or 3 weekends in Prestonsburg each summer. We spend Friday enjoying the lake at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, then attend one of the always great theater performances that evening. We usually spend the night in Prestonsburg at the Comfort Suites. Then it’s up early Saturday morning for our tee time at Stonecrest Golf Course. Talk about a beautifully scenic golf course! Stonecrest is built on top of a mountain – you can see miles from up there. After playing our round, we enjoy stopping at several of the flea markets along Route 23 to get a little bargain-hunting in on our way home to Flatwoods. Lots of fun, close to home.” Submitted by Suzie F.

You told us about: Summer Concert Series in Frankfort
“Every other Friday night through the summer months, Frankfort hosts a free concert on the grounds of the Old Capitol. It’s a favorite passtime for all age groups and chance to be with family and friends. The genre of music typically changes from week to week. Most of the bands are local, but some come from further away. Either way they draw a good crowd and everyone seems to really enjoy themselves.”

You told us about: Kayaking the Licking
“My friends and I spend quite a bit of time on the Licking River in the summer. We put in at the boat ramp at Blue Licks State Park and take out at the mouth of Johnson Creek. It is roughly a 3 hours paddle. The timing of course depends on the river current. I really enjoy it because it is so peaceful and quiet. You see all sort of wildlife, ranging from deer and squirrels to beavers and herons. You lose almost all noises from civilization. There are a few places to get out and stretch your legs. You can stop and fish or swim and then hop back in for more paddling. As you go along, there are a few riffles to go down. They are suitable for those new to kayaking, but still provide smiles to those with more experience. So I welcome anyone who is up for some peace and quiet to come and see what the Licking has to offer in Robertson County.” Submitted by Josh U.

You told us about: Cave Run Storytelling Festival
“The Cave Run Storytelling Festival is a wonderful activity for all ages. It features nationally known storytellers that are just the best! Every audience member will laugh and maybe cry. It is one of the best things for families to do together–camping is within walking distance. It is held at Cave Run Lake (8 mi west of Morehead, KY).” Submitted by Carolyn F.
